Female nurses’ roadside rescue was questioned. Response: As long as people are rescued.
Recently, a video of a Tangshan female nurse rescuing a man who fell to the ground on the roadside triggered a heated discussion among many netizens. In addition to many netizens’ praise, some professionals have raised questions. The voice of doubt thinks that female nurses give first aid to men who fall to the ground by chest compressions, which can only be used in the case of patients with respiratory and cardiac arrest. The Beijing Youth Daily reporter learned that the female nurse who saved people was Ma Jing, from Tangshan Workers’ Hospital. Ma Jing told the reporter of Beiqing Daily that he had confirmed that the man had no heartbeat or breathing before his rescue.

Female nurses’ roadside rescue was questioned
On May 4th, Weibo, the official of Tangshan Municipal Government Information Office, released a video of a female nurse using chest compressions to rescue a man who fell to the ground by the roadside, with the words "May 4th Youth Day, praise for Tangshan’s good youth".
The video shows that a nurse wearing a black sportswear, a black cap and a ponytail is kneeling beside a man lying on the sidewalk. First, she puts her hands on the man’s face for a while, and then she begins to press her hands on the man’s chest continuously.
After the female nurse pressed a few times, the man’s hands began to shake wildly in the air, and the female nurse immediately stopped pressing and put her left hand on the man’s face again to test.
The man who filmed the video sighed while filming: "This is a good nurse." Many netizens also commented on this Weibo.
However, many netizens have questioned that chest compressions should be used in the case of patients’ breathing and cardiac arrest, but men who fall to the ground can still wave their hands when they are pressed.
Weibo user "First Aid to Doctors" is one of the members of the questioning army, and he even directly called for deleting this video. "First aid to the doctor" told the reporter of Beiqing Daily that chest compressions are indicated and only need to be pressed when the heartbeat and breathing stop.
"(Blind pressing) The most likely thing is that the ribs will be broken." He believes that the man in the video has obvious breathing heartbeat and does not need to be pressed.
In less than a day, the "good nurse" in the video shooting man’s mouth became the "unqualified nurse" in the mouth of many netizens.

Rescue the fallen elderly on the way to the funeral
The female nurse in the video named Ma Jing, from Tangshan Workers’ Hospital, restored the rescue process of the day to the reporter of Beiqing Daily.
At 8 o’clock in the morning on May 4, Ma Jing was dressed in black and wrapped in a black veil on his left arm, waiting at the door of the fire brigade near Tangshan Railway Hospital, ready to attend the funeral of his relatives. Suddenly, Ma Jing found a middle-aged man lying on the fence across the road, surrounded by several fire fighters in military uniforms and some local residents.
Out of the professional habit of nurses, Ma Jing hurried over to check the situation. "After I went there, I first squatted by and observed." Ma Jing, who once worked in cardiology, told the reporter of Beiqing Daily that after on-site inspection, she found that the man had lost consciousness and suspected cardiac arrest. "I thought his condition was more like cardiac arrest at that time, and he should be able to (slowly) come over."
When the reporter of Beiqing Daily asked if the man’s heartbeat and breathing were checked before chest compressions, Ma Jing said that he had checked. "At that time, he had no heartbeat and breathing."
"I began to give him first aid with chest compressions. After a few presses, he responded and his hands began to move." Ma Jing observed that the man was conscious, and then he continued to try to make him regain consciousness by pinching the men. "After a while, he became conscious, so I helped him sit up."
After confirming that the man had regained consciousness and was not in danger for the time being, Ma Jing left in a hurry to attend the funeral of her relatives. Part of the process of saving her life was photographed by the onlookers and posted online.

"As long as people come back."
Ma Jing told the reporter of Beiqing Daily that he never thought that this video would attract so many people’s attention. "The power of the network is too strong. I didn’t expect so many people to pay attention to it, and I didn’t expect so many people to question it."
This rescue is the first time that Ma Jing has performed chest compressions for others outside the hospital.
Ma Jing said that all he could think about at that time was how to save him. "I was very anxious at that time, and I couldn’t judge exactly what disease he was, but seeing that he was unconscious and breathing, I couldn’t care less, just thinking about it. I can (slowly) come over and stick to it until 120."
Although praise and doubt exist at the same time, Ma Jing still believes that his original intention of saving people has been achieved. "It is good to save people. This is the most important thing. As for everything else, I will do my best." Ma Jing said that if he would still go to the rescue next time, "because I think that if my relatives fall on the road, I definitely hope that someone will go to the rescue, even if it is just a 120."
