Beijing gradually promotes taxi ＂oil to electricity＂ electric taxis will reach 20,000 next year

Yesterday, according to the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission, Beijing is gradually promoting the "oil to electricity" of taxis. It is expected that by the end of next year, the number of pure electric taxis in Beijing will reach 20,000, accounting for about 20% of the total number of taxis. The freight of pure electric taxis is the same as that of ordinary taxis, but passengers can pay 1 yuan less fuel surcharge.

　　Yesterday, the Beijing Youth Daily reporter learned from the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission Rental Car Management Office that this year and next year, Beijing will replace all the cruise taxis that have expired with pure electric vehicles. At the same time, new roof lights and door decoration signs have been designed with the body. As of now, more than 1,000 new logo pure electric taxis have been put into operation on the road. It is expected that by the end of next year, the scale of Beijing electric taxis will reach nearly 20,000, more than 20% of the total.

　　Can electric vehicles guarantee cruising range? Liu Jiying, a researcher at the Rental and Rental Car Management Office of the Municipal Transportation Commission, introduced that compared with the first demonstration operation of electric taxis in 2011, the performance of electric vehicles currently used has been greatly improved, especially the charging and swapping compatibility mode realizes that the battery can be recharged and replaceable, and the driver can replace the fully charged battery in just 3 minutes at the charging and swapping station, reducing the driver’s waiting time for charging and improving operational efficiency.

　　In order to facilitate drivers’ charging and replacement, by the end of 2020, Beijing will have launched more than 194 charging and replacement stations in the Fifth Ring Road, large residential areas, Tongzhou city sub-centers, and around the airport to meet drivers’ operational needs.

　　In addition, it is worth mentioning that the price of electric taxis is still 13 yuan per kilometer, 2.3 yuan per kilometer, and passengers can pay 1 yuan less for fuel surcharges when taking electric taxis.
