This test model is an entry-level version of the M7, which is a comfortable two-wheel drive version with a price of 319,800 yuan. This car is not a test car provided by the manufacturer, but we rent it from the owner, which means it is really a production model.
The appearance is calm and not fashionable enough
The design of the M7 is relatively smooth, and it pursues low wind resistance like pebbles. However, after all, it is positioned in a medium and large SUV, and the momentum brought by the overall size is still relatively strong.
Although it is an entry-level model, it is relatively adequate in some basic configurations. The front and rear parking radar, panoramic image, through LED headlights and taillights, roof rack, keyless entry and other functions can all be seen.
The 20-inch rim is not significant for the body size of the M7, and the manufacturer chose a tire with a relatively large flat ratio against the trend. The visual effect is definitely not as good as that of a big-ring thin tire, but for comfort, the thicker sidewall is definitely a positive help.
I don’t know whether the designer really referred to it or did it unintentionally. The rear design of the M7 always reminds me of the original Audi Q7. The sleek shape and the clamshell tailgate are really beautiful enough. However, compared with the Audi Q7, the temperament of the M7 is more capable. I also found something interesting under the car. I asked M7 to design the exhaust with two sides for this 1.5T range extender, and it was a hidden design.

Compared with the appearance, the interior is much more fashionable. The design uses the most mainstream style at present. There are no physical buttons on the center console, only two screens: the instrument and the car. In terms of materials, it is also quite low-cost. A large area of soft materials is matched with wooden decorative boards, and the overall high-grade feeling is considered to be a better level in the same price model.
I also made a little mistake about the mapping function of this car system. At first, I thought that the car and mobile phone in HarmonyOS could not be interconnected, because the only screen projection software in the car was a third party. However, by chance, I met a car owner who asked about M5, and he described in detail the way this car communicates with mobile phones. Car and mobile phone need to log in to the same Huawei account, and then when the owner gets on the bus with his mobile phone, the data of the mobile phone will be automatically synchronized to the car, which is particularly convenient without any operation.
When I first got this M7, the volume of the media could not be adjusted. Although the volume bar on the screen can be operated, the sound from the stereo will not change. According to the normal logic, I turned off the power, restarted the vehicle, and even stopped for one night, all of which were useless. Finally, after the owner contacted the after-sales department and learned the "secret skill" of restarting the car, this problem was solved, but a new problem came again. Every time the car was started and the stereo was turned on, only the stereo in the back row sounded, and it was necessary to switch between the concert hall and the theater in the car system to work normally. According to the information I have collected so far, the problems in this sound system are not unique.
On the charging interface in the car, the interface M7 played a trick. Although the official claimed that it was a fast charging interface with 66W, in fact, only one interface in a pair could support 66W and the other only supported 16W. Although the interface was marked with words, it was difficult to notice because of the low position of the interface, small font and small difference between words and panel colors.
The M7 uses a layout of three rows and six seats, and the second row has two independent seats, but overall, the interior space is not spacious. For home use, it’s a pity that only the second row supports the installation of children’s seats. If it’s two little friends, it can’t meet the use needs.
Solid battery life and low fuel consumption
The model tested this time is the entry-level model of M7, which is equipped with a 272Ps permanent magnet/synchronous motor with a maximum torque of 360N·m, which is simply "weak" compared with electric vehicles of the same level, but this power system is not weak for fuel vehicles. The battery capacity is 40kWh, the official nominal cruising range of WLTC is 150km, and the comprehensive cruising range of WLTC with full oil and full charge is 1100km.
Endurance test we are divided into two parts: pure battery life and fuel consumption. Therefore, as the name implies, pure battery life means to start testing after fully charging the battery until the range extender starts testing. Feed fuel consumption is to calculate the fuel consumption of the range extender by driving a distance in the state of low battery power.
The cruising range display of the M7 is composed of three parts, namely, pure electric cruising range, fuel cruising range and comprehensive cruising range. After we fully charge the battery, the pure electric cruising range is displayed as 149km, but this value is dynamic and will be recalculated according to the current driving consumption for a period of time, so the pure electric cruising range has been increasing for a period of time since the test began.
According to the test rules of EV AH-100, we started the range extender after driving for 180.2km. At this time, the average speed was 29km/h, the average power consumption on the meter was 17.1kWh/100km, and the remaining battery power on the meter was 20%. Finally, it is concluded that the pure electric cruising range of M7 is 180.2km, which is 20% more than the official WLTC cruising range.
Next, let’s continue to test the fuel consumption, adjust the vehicle mode to automatic, and continue to maintain the energy-saving driving mode to start the test. The difference between the three vehicle modes of pure electric priority, automatic and fuel priority is clearly explained in the locomotive. Simply put, pure electric priority means to use electricity first, and then use oil when the power is insufficient; Fuel priority is to keep high power, and use oil as long as the power is low; In the automatic mode, all factors are considered, and the battery is given priority, but oil will be used as long as the power is insufficient.
After driving for 102.2km, the average speed is 31km/h, the apparent fuel consumption is 8.2L/100km, and the battery power is increased from 20% at the beginning of the test to 34%, and the actual fuel consumption is 7.36L After calculation, the fuel consumption of M7 is 7.2L/100km.
Smooth power control is not bad.
Fast response speed and smooth output are the characteristics of electric vehicles. Most electric vehicles will also bring a very impactful sense of acceleration when stepping on the power pedal deeply, but this M7 is not the case. The change of power will be very linear. Even if it is full horsepower, the growth of power is a linear process without any sudden feeling.
In the function of assisting driving, the configuration of the boundary M7 is also rich, including lane keeping, adaptive cruise, lane change assistance, etc. However, the starting and closing of individual functions require multi-level operation and some learning costs, which is not very friendly in terms of ease of use.
The 1.5T turbocharged engine is not directly involved in driving the vehicle, and the values of power and torque are basically not reflected in the acceleration feeling. Before and after the intervention of the range extender, the driver can feel the vibration and noise in the car, but this kind of vibration and noise is only the difference between the electric car and the fuel car, and it will not make people feel uncomfortable.
Remember what Yu Chengdong said at the M5 press conference? McPherson is a low-cost low-end suspension (the front wheel of the Wujie M5 uses a double wishbone suspension). It seems that the Wujie M7 is not a high-end product in Mr. Yu’s place. The front McPherson independent suspension and the rear multi-link independent suspension are indeed very popular configurations in medium and large SUVs. As for the silver lower control arm in the picture, I have identified it and it is indeed aluminum.
Because the size of the rear axle motor is relatively large, the space left for the lower control arm of the suspension on both sides is limited, so the travel of the suspension is limited to some extent, and the overall damper calibration needs to be more supportive, and its vibration absorption ability will be relatively weak, especially for the fine vibration of the road surface. However, in order to solve this problem, M7 chose a set of tires with soft sidewall. From the final result, the calibration of the whole chassis is indeed a little hard, but the absorption capacity of pavement fine vibration is not bad.
In terms of driving experience, this M7 is indeed better than I expected. The response speed of the car body and the ground feel of the chassis are not bad. Although there are some problems due to the limitation of the car body structure in terms of vibration filtering ability, the chassis engineer has also made up for it in various ways. From the final effect, I think the M7 with two-wheel drive can match its price of more than 300,000 yuan in terms of driving experience.

When the power and brake pedal are depressed at the same time, the power output will be very linear after the brake pedal is released. The performance of M7 in elk test is very balanced, the intervention timing and strength of vehicle electronic auxiliary system are just right, and the steering feel and suspension support performance are satisfactory. Noise test
The M7 has a good performance in sound insulation. Compared with the models with the same price, the sound insulation materials are more solid, and the wind noise and road noise are well controlled. Even when driving at high speed, the wind noise will not be particularly disturbing. However, after the range extender is started, the noise in the car will increase a little. The measured noise of the range extender when it is not started is 38.5 dB, and that of the range extender after it is started is 43.4 dB.

Before I got this M7, I was full of expectations for its car system. I guess there will finally be a car system that is very suitable for Huawei mobile phones, and it is indeed the case, but the sound bug is hard to spit out. The driving part I didn’t expect at all gave me a little surprise, with linear power and good control.
