He Lifeng said that the once tight supply of natural gas exposed the problem of insufficient system and mechanism in natural gas production, supply and marketing and infrastructure, among which the lack of gas storage capacity was a big shortcoming. "The best thing in this respect is Shanghai, which has reached the gas storage capacity of about 15 days." He Lifeng said that the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) is summing up Shanghai’s practice and promoting it to the whole country, striving to achieve gas storage capacity in all places for about 10 days in a short time. At the same time, gas supply enterprises and gas production enterprises should also ensure gas storage capacity of 3 to 5 days. "The gas storage capacity of developed countries is generally around 15 days, and we hope to steadily promote the construction of gas storage capacity."
In terms of imported gas sources, China will strengthen the signing of closer and longer-term gas supply agreements with neighboring countries, including Central Asia, Russia and Pacific coastal areas, and make every effort to meet the needs of the people by self-producing gas at home.
